Who is Matt the Chef?

For more than 25 years, I’ve worked at some of Yorkshire’s best restaurants and pubs, winning plaudits for the quality, originality and diversity of my food.

I first got bitten by the catering bug when working as a 14 year old at Betty’s in Ilkley – and I’ve never looked back.

I’ve worked with some of the finest chefs in the Wharfe and Aire valleys, and have experienced the full range of what the catering & hospitality industry has to offer in the 21st century.

With expertise and experience both front of house and in the kitchen, I’m much more than “just” a chef. I’ve got a keen eye for business, covering the kitchen and service delivery, an extensive network of trusted, quality suppliers and in-depth knowledge of the local restaurant and pub scene.

Born in Bradford, home is on the outskirts of Haworth with my wife Dawn and our three dogs, Merlin, Megan and Maurice.

When not working, I love travelling, enjoy fine food, even better wines and smelly French cheese. So, typical chef really.
